The organization FRIM (the association for free improvised music), was founded in 1977 (or 1978) to create a platform for free improvised music in Sweden. After some years of inactivity, FRIM was re-founded in 1998 and (now) has, so far, more than 100 members and has already organized concerts in the cities of Stockholm, Eskilstuna and Malmö. We organized the festival SOUNDS -99 in October -99 with Swedish improvisers working in groups, solos or playing in ad hoc ensembles, and a large orchestra. The next season we also had the festival VÅRFLOD. In the autumn we are going to have the first of a recurrent annual international festival. This year, it will be called SOUNDS 2000 and held the 10th to 11th of November.

FRIM will also promote the ongoing discussion about improvised music and its interests as an artform in relation to Swedish politics.
