The DISKONTO history:

History:

Diskonto was formed by Martin and Malmen back in ’92 or something. Then we were Martin on guitar and vocals and Malmen on drums. Sonn Patrik joined on bass, but his sejour in the band was short, he just didn’t fit in. He now plays with the grunge band Spacebone. After a short break Stefan joined on vocals and Kaj on bass, and we had found the setting that Diskonto were about to keep for some years. The members were involved in some other bands (Times Square Preachers, Biomasticator etc.) wich made Diskonto a not very active band until the beginning of ’94 when those bands had either splitted up or rested. In March ’94 a 16 song promodemo was recorded in studio D-takt (the only time when we have used another studio than ADM). The demo was sent to some labels which resulted in a couple of EP offers. In November ’94 two EP’s were recorded, one for the American label Profane existence records ("A shattered society") and one for the French label Minstrel records ("Silenced by oppression"). It took a while before anything happened ("A shattered..." was released in August ’95) and during that time we recorded once again. That recording in March ’95 became our side at the split-EP with Frigöra from Japan which was released at the of ’95 by Blurred records (Japan) and one side on our fourth EP "More power to the cops.. ..is less power to the people" which was released in March ’96 by Malarie records (Czech). The other side of that EP was recorded in June ’95. At the end of ’95 we were once again in the studio, this time to record songs for an split-EP with all-girl-crust-grind-punk-as-fuck-band Distjej. It will be released by Tribal War Asia as soon as possible. Lorenzo on Minstrel records turned out to be an shithead who was only ripping us, and when "Silenced..." hadn’t yet been released in March ’96 we decided not to have him release it, instead the American label Eugene records will. In March ’96 Diskonto went on a smaller eastern Europe tour in two weeks which went just fine apart from conflict with polish skinheads, finacial suicide etc. After that tour both Kaj and Malmen decided to leave the band. Kaj to join Cumbrage and Malmen to concentrate on Zionide (by the way, Stefan left Zionide before the tour) and all of a sudden we didn’t have any bass player or drummer. New bass player became Danne (also playing in Della Morte) and we entered the studio to record a new EP and a 10" in May ’96. Malmen helped us out playing drums on this recording which became his last with Diskonto. Somehow we thought that the recording would fit better as an full length LP than the mentioned records (strange since we always have said that we never want to do an Diskonto LP, but what the fuck, you can change your mind, can’t you?) and Pete at Reiterate records (US) agreed and will release it in April '97. Jonas definetly joined the band. He previously played with bands as Dismachine etc. Crustrecords took over the Diskonto/Distjej project. A new split 10" was recorded to be shared with Abuse from Uppsala, Sweden. Puh! That was much writing!
